Inside Blockbuster Express Launches Mobile Site

Well last night I was trying to go rent a couple movies from Blockbuster Express when we were driving home from the mall. So while on the way we decided to see what might be a good choice. We usually go for those new releases so I headed to the Blockbuster Express website and took a look. But unfortunately, its Flash! I cannot see the main site from either my iPhone or my Blackberry Storm!

I still ended up at the kiosk and picked a couple movies out but this experience led me to making a decision today that I’d get my site mobile ready. Yeah, it works already but it could be much more optimized. And with the launch of the upcoming iPad I’ll probably try to put together another site that is optimized for that device as well. So here we are at the end of another workday (isn’t it Saturday) but I have completed getting a mobile theme up on the site. Thanks to the great folks at Brave New Code I have installed, configured, and customized the WPTouch plugin for this site which converts the theme when you use a mobile device.

So those folks out there that are hitting me from their iPhone, Android, Blackberry 9500, blackberry 9530, cupcake, dream, incognito, ipod, mini, webOS, or webmate browsers, you now will automatically get a new mobile optimized site! There is a switch at the bottom if you want to turn that off and go back to the fullscreen site.

So enjoy (I already have been) and please let me know if you find any issues and I’ll see what I can do to fix them up for you.

I just wanted to put a quick blurb to apologize for not keeping up your Blockbuster Express and DVD Kiosk news. It has been a crazy couple of weeks with 4 of my family ending up with X-rays for various aches and possible breaks (one was an actual break, one was damaged ligaments, one was a bruised bone, and one was just pain from being so darned flatfooted and on her feet all the time!), moving some friends to another state, summer camps, a mission trip, and an Anime Convention (yes I can be geeky in Japanese too). So I’m finally catching up on work just a bit before we have a family vacation. I’ll work to get articles up and going and I’ll actually have a chance to visit some kiosks shortly which will help me keep the kiosk locator map up to date!

I have just setup a new community forum for us here at InsideBlockbusterExpress.com. If you have something to share that isn’t just a reply to one of the posts, you can start your own thread there!. I have put in a few for promo codes for Moviecube that I had come across. Check the Community tab at the top of the page.

I am using the new bbpress software from the makers of WordPress. Its only been out for about 5 days now and I have spent that whole time building a custom theme for it. Still some functionality that it is lacking but this is the 1.0 release so be patient with me. However, I’d love to hear any feedback you have on the forums. I run several other using different software and I’m learning along with everyone else.
